Mr Lascaratos completed the South Thames surgical training programme in ophthalmology in London and the highly sought-after subspecialty glaucoma fellowship programme at Moorfields Eye Hospital. He was the Clinical Lead for the ophthalmology urgent referral service at King’s College Hospital for several years and has extensive experience in Ophthalmology.
Driven by his passion for translational clinical research that can benefit patients, Mr Lascaratos is currently the co-Chief Investigator for a large multicentre randomised clinical trial on the role of nicotinamide to improve mitochondrial function and delay glaucoma progression (NAMinG trial) funded by a prestigious and highly competitive £2.0mil NIHR Efficacy and Mechanism Evaluation (EME) Programme grant. Based on his innovative PhD work in Glaucoma at University College London and his MSc by Research at the University of Oxford he has international expertise in cellular bioenergetics in glaucoma and has served as the Principal Investigator at King’s College for multiple glaucoma clinical trials to investigate novel glaucoma treatments (intracameral SR bimatoprost), evaluate emerging biomarkers for glaucoma and understand the molecular mechanisms influencing the outcome of glaucoma filtration surgery.
His private practice is based at the London Clinic in Harley Street, at King’s Private in south east London, and at the Circle Health hospitals in north and central London and in Blackheath.
